McDaniel trial underway, updates to come

Two suspects are currently on trial for the murder of Berry junior Joseph McDaniel, who died last October in a drug-related incident. On Oct. 28, of last year, McDaniel was shot in his apartment after an altercation with Troy Jamal Cokley and Ricket Damon Carter, two high school acquaintances of McDaniel.

This week, the trial began as witnesses were called to give testimony of what happened the night McDaniel was killed. According to the Rome News Tribune, Cokley and Carter have been charged with murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery and possession of a controlled substance in relation to the event. The verdict of the trial is expected to be announced soon.
