One of the biggest draws of attending Berry is the LifeWorks program, which allows every student to have an on-campus job. One of the many exciting opportunities that Berry offers is the chance for students to take academic courses in other countries around the world. These opportunities come in different forms, with some programs inviting students to travel abroad for an entire semester, while others allow students to take classes over the summer with Berry faculty. While the classes are an important part of the trip, students are encouraged to make the most of the opportunity by embracing the culture of a new city. October is a time to watch classic horror films and tell scary stories around the fireplace to set the mood for the Halloween season. While most people dismiss these stories as made-up myths, Berry College has its own share of ghost stories that are said to be true. One of Berry College’s most special traditions is the weekend of the Mountain Day celebration. Founded in Berry’s rich history, each year, the college invites students, alumni and parents to participate in different festivities to celebrate the birthday of its founder, Martha Berry (Oct. 7, 1865-Feb. 27, 1942). The semester is now well underway, with classes entering their first round of exams and papers. As new students grow more accustomed to life at Berry, many are beginning to branch out through different college activities.  While some chose to get involved in intramural sports or clubs, one group has chosen to spend their time campaigning for positions on the Student Government Association (SGA). Hopeful freshmen have begun campaigning by advertising through posters and social media, with the goal of being elected as representative of their class. 23 candidates are running for the four officer positions available: president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary.
