The 2025 beach volleyball season has begun with the Vikings coming out hot, winning six of their first seven matchups. The Vikings swept the Huntingdon Beach Bash to kick off the season and took two of three games during the Spring Hill College Classic. Unlike other sports at Berry, the beach team will compete against Division I,II and III programs while also competing against two-year colleges and NAIA programs. At the end of the season, the team will compete in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) division III championship against all of the division III programs. Last September, two Berry students turned an idea into reality. For Daphne Tremps and Kate Dempsey, this meant gathering fellow classmates to form The Fleet: an interest group that seeks to raise school spirit and student engagement at Berry athletic games. The 2025 softball season has officially kicked off this past weekend. Berry took on Lagrange College in a doubleheader on Saturday where they won both of the games. Seniors Hannah Gore and Paige Bennett both won the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) players of the week. The Vikings are coming off a season where they made it all the way to a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Super Regional. The Viking’s baseball campaign started this past weekend with a season-opening series against Emory University. Berry traveled to Emory for a Friday afternoon game and then hosted the Eagles for a Saturday doubleheader taking two out of three games to start the season. The 2025 lacrosse season has officially kicked off for both the men’s and women’s teams. Each team returns key players with the chance to make a run at the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) championship. Last year, the men finished third in the conference, losing in the Conference semifinals to Sewanee. The men have been picked to finish fourth in the SAA preseason poll. The women also finished third in the conference last year, losing to Centre in the SAA semifinals and finishing with a 12-5 record overall. The women are tied for third in the SAA pre-season poll. The Berry College men’s and women’s tennis programs have been playing since 1959 and boast one of the nicest facilities in the entire school. The Rome Tennis Center offers the teams year-round training facilities with over 50 outdoor courts and six indoor courts. In the fall, the team practiced three times a week with additional workouts, but with competition season starting up, the team practices five days a week from 3:30 – 6 p.m. Head Coach Doug Elly talked about the differences between fall and spring training regimens.
