Affirmative action ban has little effect on admissions

In 2023, the United States Supreme Court overturned affirmative action in college admissions. In this scenario, affirmative action is when schools take one’s race into consideration when deciding who to admit to any given college. Berry Young Democrats host debate watch party

Berry’s chapter of Young Democrats of America is fully active as another year begins and the election closes in. Starting this year, Professor of English Jim Watkins is serving as co-advisor for Young Democrats alongside Professor of International Affairs John Hickman. Diversity, community engagement efforts now in unified office

The Office of Diversity and Belonging has changed its name to the Office of Belonging and Community Engagement following a merger with Volunteer Services and the Bonner Center for Community Engagement. This change was made to prioritize community service, encompass the mission of “Good Neighbor Culture” and uphold the college’s reputation for community engagement. Summer political happenings increase American polarization

This summer was a season of many unpredictable events. In the span of a few months, the country witnessed an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate, the incumbent president step down from reelection, numerous protests and Supreme Court rulings that could have drastic consequences. The impact of these events has caused many individuals to pay close attention to the political landscape as the election approaches.
