“The people make Berry,” David Beasley, head coach of the baseball team, said. 

As someone who has worked at Berry College for 31 years, Beasley has had a lot of experience with both coaching and the college. Berry’s softball team had no idea that their scrimmage on Saturday would be canceled due to cold temperatures. With an upcoming game against Maryville College fast approaching, many players wondered how they would prepare for the match. However, Meredith Mills, the team’s coach, had a contingency plan in place in case something like this occurred. Her solution was an intrasquad event, where a team splits into groups that play against each other. Mills is very confident that this intrasquad event will be beneficial to her team and that it is a suitable substitute for the scrimmage. It began at 8 p.m. The Berry Basketball team was going up against Centre College in the Cage Center. Berry eked out a narrow win, scoring 63 points to Centre’s 62.  The game was a nailbiter, with Centre College almost winning at the end. The conference gets tougher every year. At least, that’s the take that Richard Vardy, head coach of the men’s soccer team gave when asked about this season’s championships. However, the team was able to win the conference championship.
