Tres Jardines and Chicas Birria offered students dinner to enjoy with listening to the music and talking to student organizations.

Last Friday, students gathered on the Krannert lawn to celebrate both the end of the first week of classes and the various clubs on campus focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion. KCAB and the Office of Diversity and Belonging hosted a block party with food trucks, face painting, a DJ performance by Berry senior MJ Shaffer and a performance from singer Dane Caston.

Students were also encouraged to learn about clubs on campus such as LISTEN, Orgullo, Berry College Brotherhood, UNITY, AAPI student group and the Berry College International Club. Each club had a game or activity at their booth, and worked to educate students about the goals of their organizations. Booths for Solidarity Week and the Good Neighbor Challenge were also set up for students to learn about and sign up for. The event encouraged students, returning and new, to embrace the community on campus and find new organizations they can connect with.

Students were able to purchase older Solidarity Week
and Office of Diversity and Belonging t-shirts at the party.
In addition to the food trucks and several clubs at the event, there were several
artists who offered caricature portraits as well as colorful face paint.
Berry College Brotherhood, a group for men of color to support one another, had a basketball hoop for people visiting their booth.
MJ Shaffer, senior, held a DJ set for an hour before singer Dane Caston came on
stage. The set featured songs from the “Barbie” movie and other pop hits.
