Head coach hunt begins after Astrid Escobar resigns

On Feb. 5th, news that Astrid Escobar, former Head Coach of the Berry College Swim and Dive program, resigned from her post hit Berry’s campus. Much speculation swirled about what were the reasons for her resignation and if it had anything to do with her profile being taken down from the Berry athletics website. While neither Berry’s Athletic Department nor the college has released any statements about the reasons for her departure, Ella Quigley, a junior on the women’s Swim and Dive team talked about the team’s reaction after they heard the news. Softball starts season, looks to repeat as SAA champions

The 2025 softball season has officially kicked off this past weekend. Berry took on Lagrange College in a doubleheader on Saturday where they won both of the games. Seniors Hannah Gore and Paige Bennett both won the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) players of the week. The Vikings are coming off a season where they made it all the way to a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Super Regional. Vikings baseball primed for stellar season in 2025

The Viking’s baseball campaign started this past weekend with a season-opening series against Emory University. Berry traveled to Emory for a Friday afternoon game and then hosted the Eagles for a Saturday doubleheader taking two out of three games to start the season. Lacrosse kicks season off, looking to take back the SAA

The 2025 lacrosse season has officially kicked off for both the men’s and women’s teams. Each team returns key players with the chance to make a run at the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) championship. Last year, the men finished third in the conference, losing in the Conference semifinals to Sewanee. The men have been picked to finish fourth in the SAA preseason poll. The women also finished third in the conference last year, losing to Centre in the SAA semifinals and finishing with a 12-5 record overall. The women are tied for third in the SAA pre-season poll. Berry tennis cultivates tight bonds, love for the game

The Berry College men’s and women’s tennis programs have been playing since 1959 and boast one of the nicest facilities in the entire school. The Rome Tennis Center offers the teams year-round training facilities with over 50 outdoor courts and six indoor courts. In the fall, the team practiced three times a week with additional workouts, but with competition season starting up, the team practices five days a week from 3:30 – 6 p.m. Head Coach Doug Elly talked about the differences between fall and spring training regimens.
